Job Summary:  The Manager, Medical Education is responsible for supporting and executing on the promotional Medical Education strategy for a portfolio of products within the Plastic & Regenerative Medicine division of Allergan Aesthetics. The Manager is responsible for the speaker and content management of select medical education programs and will develop and foster relationships with key opinion leaders, external customers, and internal stakeholders across multiple product applications.

Principle Responsibilities: 

  • Review medical education program content against approved Medical Education messaging and Regulatory guidelines
    • Collaborate with internal partners to track program details and goals and confirm speaker
    • Once a program is confirmed, communicate with program owner to confirm audience and educational content needs
    • Act as point of contact for speaker content direction, slide development details, deadlines and feedback
    • Ensure slides are received in a timely manner
    • Review speaker slides to ensure content is on-label and tracking with the program’s educational goals and provided feedback to speaker
    • Continuously track regulatory messages, publications and marketing claims and update internal documents and processes appropriately
    • Ensure internal slide review process is clearly communicated to speakers and documented appropriately
    • Manage slide submissions through the MLRC process
  • Support speaker training and development activities
    • Track and plan speaker onboarding and training ensuring on-label presentation of promotional educational content
    • Develop, maintain, and update speaker slide library and regulatory guidelines (including speaker training presentations)
    • Manage speaker matrix, bios, profiles and tracking
    • Build collaborative long-term relationships with key opinion leaders to advance technique messaging and impact patient care and outcomes
  • Execute specific medical education programs and projects in a compliant and timely manner
    • Lead day-to-day management of virtual and in-person medical education programs including start to finish project execution
    • Initiate and lead alignment discussions with cross functional stakeholders
    • Develop and continually advance program agendas and educational messaging
    • Ability to learn content direction and details in a progressive manner, working with manager to ensure understanding of the safe and effective use of our products as well as the compliant guardrails 
    • Manage key vendor relationships
    • Manage speaker communication and direction
  • Work collaboratively, effectively, and efficiently with all internal and external customers, partners, and stakeholders, including sales colleagues
  • Evaluate opportunities for innovation, idea generation, and process improvement to continually evolve the Medical Education department and enhance team coordination
  • Work closely with Health Care Compliance, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs to ensure adherence to corporate guidelines
  • Proactively develop, pilot, and implement new program formats
  • Partner with and provide consistent communication and direction to Meeting Planning team as necessary to ensure successful program execution

Qualifications

Skills and Experiences:

  • Strong knowledge of peer-to-peer adult learning educational strategies, and experience translating complex scientific and clinical data into educational messages
  • Skilled in collaborating with key opinion leaders to advance messages for techniques and applications
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to establish and communicate meaningful conclusions and recommendations
  • A strong foundation in medical education, principles of adult learning, and education outcomes assessment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of healthcare medical education experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; scientific and/or medical discipline preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.  Congenial, diplomatic, patient, and able to interact well with customers
  • Strong project management skills.  Must work well in a fast-paced environment, be able to multi-task, and remain detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated computer skills (baseline Microsoft Office and relevant database and IT systems)
  • Applies sound judgment and innovative thinking to solve problems and make timely business decisions including triage to appropriate internal stake holders
  • Strong knowledge of OIG, FDA, AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Professionals and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education guidelines for commercial support
  • Travel required – 5-10% (includes weekend travel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Breast surgery, fat grafting or abdominal wall reconstruction techniques and/or product knowledge
  • Experience working with and educating surgeons and their teams

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
