Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Based in San Diego and reporting to the Manager of Technical Writing, the Technical Writer for Software will be responsible for collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, including software/instrument engineers and application scientists to produce high-quality documentation in support of Element Biosciences instrument, cloud, and analysis software.
Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who will take both a hands-on approach to information gathering and content generation for software used in a biological sciences environment.
· Communicate with R&D product developers and attend project status meetings to understand the product(s) under development and the overall schedule and milestones
· Communicate with Marketing product managers to identify product and audience requirements for the deliverables
· Coordinate with the R&D project manager to prepare the technical publications delivery schedule
· Generate new content to meet marketing and technical requirements to produce customer-facing documentation for scientists and consuming developers
· Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree in Biochemistry or equivalent field of study. Advanced degree in biological sciences preferred with 5 years experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
· Experience with next generation sequencing technology, highly desirable
· Minimum 5 years of relevant software technical writing experience, training, and presentation material in a scientific environment
· Experience writing developer documentation, including documentation for quick starts, tutorials, API, and command line
· Flexible and proactive with the ability to work in an environment of constant change
· Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
· Highly organized and excellent attention to detail
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to lift 15 pounds
