Position is full-time academic year non-tenure track, limited to 06/18/2022 with anticipated renewal.

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology in the College of the Environment & Life Sciences (CELS) at The University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Microbiology to begin late August 2021. The position is non-tenure track faculty, academic year appointment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach courses in microbiology and related disciplines including but not limited to CMB 201 Introductory Medical Microbiology (lecture and lab) and/or CMB 211 Integrative Microbiology (lecture and lab). Candidates must be willing to teach course sections offered in the late afternoon or evening. The candidate will support URI’s mission to provide students with academic experiences that expose them to different perspectives, life experiences, and ways of knowing. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to, including participation in workshops with the Office of the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, on the design and implementation of inclusive pedagogical models that enhance a sense of belonging and academic success among undergraduate students from diverse cultures, disciplines, and academic backgrounds. Other assignments may include, depending on demands, teaching lower enrollment courses that would be of interest to both the faculty member and students, such as an honors section, an entirely distinct honors course, a grand challenge course, or a section of a first-year student seminar.
