Altasciences is seeking a qualified individual who will establish Altasciences as the premier CRO for pathology services.  As Head of Pathology this individual will provide leadership to both our anatomic and clinical veterinary pathologists and be part of the scientific leadership team.  The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to support Altasciences’ continued growth, ensuring that the company’s pathology services meet and exceed clients’ current and future expectations. This individual will also identify and recommend best practices for pathology data interpretation and reporting, represent the company in meetings with key partners and sponsors, partner with toxicology leadership to drive continuous improvement in study designs and reports, and support the continued development of study directors, pathologists, and scientific and technical staff.  Help us move in unison to deliver big impact by adding your personal touch.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and personnel management of Anatomic and Clinical Pathologists

  • Identify, develop, and implement new strategies and business opportunities to support the company’s growth and meet the client demand

  • Lead, guide and implement workflow initiatives to ensure best practices and maintain industry leading techniques

  • Participate in national/international toxicology/pathology meetings and represent Altasciences in professional society committees, working groups, and consortia

  • Contribute to the development of short, mid and long-term operational objectives, staffing requirements and succession plan to meet growth and financial objectives

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and state laws 

  • Represent the site to government, regulatory agencies, local, state, and federal officials, industry groups as well as to key clients and customers

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent

  • 10 plus years’ experience in the pharma, biotech, and/or CRO industries

  • 6 plus years’ Toxicologic pathology leadership experience

  • ACVP or ECVP Certification

  • Excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication skills; and skills in scientific writing or electronic publishing desired

  • Work independently with minimal guidelines; maintains a qualified staff and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
