The Foundational Immunology Department is committed to advancing drug development through the deeper understanding of disease facilitated by deep molecular profiling. The Senior Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing new technologies to enable immuno-profiling of disease from human samples and preclinical models. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology and autoimmunity and a demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments independently. The successful candidate will have expertise in advanced molecular techniques such as single cell RNAseq (10x Genomics), flow cytometry, cell-based assays and instrument automation.  The ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, represent program-related work to senior management and external collaborators will be required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute high throughput molecular profiling of human samples through single cell RNAseq
  • Independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions
  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve project hurdles by utilizing available information and technical expertise
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies to maintain state of the art facility in immuno-profiling
  • Work effectively with a team in a matrix environment
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific forums
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, controlled drugs and radioactive compounds
  • May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals

  • PhD and 0-4+ years experience, MS and 8-10+ years experience, or BS and 10-12+ years experience
  • Strong background in immunology
  • Expertise in single cell RNAseq (CITEseq, 10x Genomics)
  • Expertise in multi-dimensional flow cytometry desired, but not required
  • Experience in supervising technical associates desired but not required
  • Preferred experience with instrument automation
  • Demonstrated expertise in translational research
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups in a fast-paced discovery team setting
  • Effectively communicate cross-functionally with team members throughout the organization
