SUMMARY:

The Director of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for driving and shaping actionable strategic insights into strategic plans for current and future brands across the Neurology Business Unit. The 3 key areas are 1) Drive and support mid- to long-term strategy development for products within Neurology 2) Support Business development- and pipeline projects with commercial assessment and a feasible go to market strategy 3) Proactively search for new ways and commercialization trends to strengthen the neurology brands competitive advantage

S/he will work in close collaboration with the brand teams and the customer experience team and a wide variety of other cross-functional partners across Lundbeck. The incumbent is an expert in use of strategic models to support a structured process for strategy development and planning. S/he has strong analytical and strategic skills together with strong communication and collaboration skills. S/he has ability to influence, of curious nature and a drive to implement new ideas and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Drive and support mid- to long-term strategy development for products within Neurology

  • Leads the development of actionable strategic insights to support customer experience and marketing through collaboration with business analytics, professional relations, medical affairs, marketing, customer experience and sales.
  • Drives the development of an actionable view, including potential gaps and solutions, of brand performance in the Neurology Business Unit
  • Supports customer experience and brand team in the development of strategic insights and strategic models and tools such as patient journey, buying process and strategic positioning maps
  • Secures actionable competitive intelligence insights

 


Support Business development- and pipeline projects with commercial assessment and a feasible go to market strategy evaluations

 

 

  • Provides commercial input on Business Development opportunities, evaluates and advises on strategic fit and related go to market strategies
  • Evaluates effective and creative go to market strategy for new indications and brands, specific to the eco system around the brand
  • Collaborates with professional relations, medical affairs and other key functions to develop plans for how the Neurology Business Unit can support Lundbeck's vision of becoming a leader in brain health through BD and own pipeline

 


Follow emerging commercialization trends and create plans to increase Lundbeck's competitive advantage

 

 

 

  • Develops short-, mid- and long-term plans for strategic initiatives aimed to increase current and future commercial competitive advantage for example channel strategy, effective digital promotion, usage of new techniques for more effective marketing and sales implementation
  • Monitors and gains insight into pharmaceutical commercialization trends and creates new initiatives to explore and implement
  • Develop capabilities within the organization on how to operate with agility to implement and learn from new projects and ideas

 


Leadership

 

 

 

  • Possesses strong leadership in a matrix organization and ability to manage complex projects, lead meetings, prioritize and organize own tasks and responsibilities
  • Ensures effective budget planning and secure resources to enable planned projects can be conducted effectively.
  • Ensures that all actions, and those of the team both internally and through vendors who are working on our behalf are in compliance with all laws, regulations and policies and demonstrate Company beliefs

 

  • Creates an environment that inspires and enables team members to collaborate and move the organization forward in an agile way
  • Proactively considers/identifies and recommends new strategies and tactics to challenge current thinking and raise the level of performance, ultimately finding ways to be more effective or competitive

 


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

 

 

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of sales, marketing or other relevant commercial or analytical experience
  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device brand marketing or sales or other commercial strategic leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and build consensus
  • Experience in aligning cross-functional decisions from idea to completion for projects and plans
  • Demonstrated relationship development with the ability to work effectively both independently or within a team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 


PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

 

 

  • MBA or Master's Degree
  • Experience and knowledge of U.S. marketing and brand management
  • Injectable/infusion sales experience within Medical benefit environment or other comparable reimbursement experiences
  • Broad Neurology, including migraine experience preferred
  • New Product launch or expansion experience, particularly in a new therapeutic class
  • Experience managing performance of an in-market, promoted brand
  • Background in biosciences demonstrated on the job or through educational training

 


TRAVEL:

 

 

 

  • Willingness/ability to travel approximately 30% domestically; international travel may be required
