The Tumor Microenvironment Thematic Research Center (TME TRC) at Bristol Myers Squibb is focused on developing therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor, stromal and immune biology with the goal of enhancing responsiveness to immune checkpoint blockade, targeted and cell therapies.Comprised of scientists across multiple disciplines, we are responsible for the biology and translational science required to support drug development from target identification through proof-of-concept (POC) studies in cancer patients.
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with deep immunology and drug discovery experience to join the Adaptive Immunity team in the Immunology and Stromal Biology Discovery group at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Redwood City, CA. The candidate will work collaboratively with drug discovery, predictive science, translational and clinical teams to advance molecules (large and small) from target identification/validation, drug discovery to an evaluation of POC in patients and further mechanistic understanding of the adaptive immunity biology in the TME. The qualified candidate will bring extensive knowledge in immunology, T and B cells biology or other lymphoid cells and drug development to further our mechanistic understandings of lymphoid cells interplay in the TME.
Biology program lead for the adaptive immunity discovery portfolio projects across large and small molecule therapeutic modalities
Design and execution of robust preclinical data packages to support drug discovery programs
Contribution to exploratory target identification and validation of novel targets
Participation in review of external/business development opportunities
Mentorship of research scientists and more junior colleagues
Ph.D. in immunology or equivalent biology degree with minimal 2 years of relevant industrial or post-doctoral experience
A proven track record in the field of immunology, lymphocytes biology and cytokines biology as evidenced by publication record is required.
Knowledge of preclinical drugdevelopment including knowledge of designing assays and flowcharts to identify and optimize drug candidates is desirable
Expertise in isolation, characterization and functional assay development using primary immune cells of rodent and/or human origin is required.
Expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry analysis of tumor infiltrating immune cells (Cytobank, FlowJo, MACS) is required
Experience and deep understanding of preclinical animal models of human cancers including knowledge of in vivo PK, PD, efficacy is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels both within an organization and with external collaborators/companies with the ability to recognize, articulate and accept calculated risks to make informed decisions
Working knowledge of all functional areas of drug development including toxicology, translational biology and early clinical development
Ability to mentor more junior scientists and colleagues on best practices in the laboratory would be highly valued
This position is located in Redwood City, CA. There will be less than 10% travel.
