Job Details

Viral Vector Technologies (VVT) is a technology development group at Regeneron focused on engineering and discovery of novel AAV and lentiviral vectors to support internal research as well as gene-therapy based platforms. We are looking for a candidate to support the in vivo evaluation of novel AAV vectors. This is an opportunity for a researcher with a strong background in animal handling and immunology-focused in vivo and in vitro models to help advance novel viral vector based gene therapies.

As an R&D Specialist in the VVT group, a typical day may include the following:
• Produce candidate viral vectors in BLS2 cell culture for in vivo studies
• Design and conduct in vivo studies (i.v.-tail vein required, s.c., i.p., i.m.), collect blood (terminal, s.m., r.o.)
• Monitor biodistribution of viral vectors through in vivo bioluminescent imaging (IVIS), ex vivo fluorescence imaging (FACS/microscopy), immunohistochemistry (Ventana), in situ hybridization (BaseScope)
• Dissociate tissues for cellular enrichment or characterization (qPCR, flow cytometry, Luminex/MSD, ELISpot), potential evaluation of NHP and human blood/serum
• Perform basic molecular biology assays (Cloning, Western blotting, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, RT-PCR, quantitative PCR, ELISA, etc.)
• Analyze and present data in a team-based setting
• Maintain lab supplies and help with lab organization

This role may be for you if:
• You are skilled in designing well-controlled experiments that can provide reliable results
• You possess the ability to analyze data and extract conclusions
• You are able to work in a collaborative fast paced working environment

To be considered for this role, you must have a BS+5 years or a MS+ 3 years of relevant experience. We are seeking experience with animal handling, animal injections (specifically tail vein), bleeds (s.m., r.o. etc.), and dissection techniques are required. Experience with Immunology and Microbiology is a plus. Experience with bioluminescent imaging, virology, basic molecular biology/biochemistry, cell biology, ELISAs, FACS, immune cell isolation/in vitro culture is needed. Additionally, experience with basic safety procedures and sterile techniques required for BSL2 laboratory function. Ex vivo immune cell isolation from tissues for functional studies is preferred (ex. isolation of T cells and/or DCs from spleen and evaluation of ELISpot, CFSE proliferation, flow cytometry staining, ex vivo immune cell-based assays, etc.). Understanding of and experience with in vitro assays with viral vectors will be a distinct advantage.
