Position Overview:

The District Manager, Retina is responsible for leading a region team of 10 Account Managers, Retina (AMR’s).  The District Manager will also oversee all aspects of managing the region including sales results and accountability, ensuring all AMR’s needs are addressed regarding training, development, disciplinary issues.  They will also be responsible for  interviewing and hiring prospective AMR’s, managing region budgets, and developing and maintaining key customer relationships to ensure the overall success of US Retina. This position will also evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing objectives of the south central region and provide support to US Retina franchise strategy, initiatives and goals.  The region manager will develop and implement improved procedures and practices while establishing, communicating, and pursuing objectives for the region to achieve.  They must have the ability to lead  and motivate others to attain the individual and collective goals and objectives outlined for the Region.  The Region manager will demonstrate leadership in needs based account selling processes that will deliver a long-term competitive advantage in the region.  They must also and provide leadership in KOL programs, key accounts and provide leadership to support sales and meet or exceed business goals of the region.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required


  • Bachelors degree in related field, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of Healthcare/Pharmaceutical experience, buy and bill, or device&nbspexperience
  • Minimum &nbspfive years of successful sales management  or equivalent people leadership experience
  • Knowledge and experience of legal and regulatory requirement related to the Pharmaceutical industries
  • Market Planning/strategy development experience and the ability to execute key strategies
  • Financial/budgetary experience

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Supervisory/Management experience. &nbspAbility to effectively lead team to achieve consistent sales performance in the region
  • Ability to evaluate staff deployment as well as region and territory assignments
  • Ability to monitor field activity to ensure balanced workloads exercise control over resources, budgets and expenses oversee business operations including accounts receivable, etc.
  • Superior leadership qualities and superior business acumen
  • Ability to effectively coach and develop others using strong analytical, decision making and results orientation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to effectively work with many diverse customers and employees
  • Strong problem resolution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with many diverse customer audiences, therapeutic decision makers, and other influencers

  • Ability to travel, a minimum of 75%
