Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated individual with a strong background in genomics and next generation sequencing (NGS) to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the discovery and characterization of novel induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cellular therapeutics. The candidate will play a foundational role as Manager of Fate's Genomics Core, providing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) support for Fate's best-in-class iPSC-derived cellular therapy R&D teams. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and communicative and have extensive hands-on experience in current genomics techniques including bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, DNA sequencing, and related techniques associated with genomic, genetic, and epigenetic characterization of cells and tissues. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating genomics core sample submission, tracking sample progress, communicating data deliverables, and managing day-to-day operations of the genomic core personnel and operations. This is a full-time, bench-level position reporting to the Director, Genomics and is located at the Company's corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

• Execute NGS protocols including, but not limited to: DNA/RNA extraction; sample QC;NGS library preparation, quantification, and QC for the Illumina platform.
• Coordinate genomics core sample submission, sample tracking, and data delivery forcompany-wide R&D studies.
• Assist R&D groups with genomics study design and communicate data analysis needswith the computational biology team.
• Closely follow and onboard technological developments that could benefitthe company.
• Develop and/or optimize novel NGS assays and other genomics methods needed at thecompany.
• Interact with the manufacturers and engineers of the relevant equipment to maintaintheir peak functionality.
• Mentor junior staff with the potential to supervise research associates.
• Responsible for ordering required reagents and proper billing of projects.
• Write, review, revise, and follow SOPs within Fate Therapeutics' document managementsystem.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date lab records and notebooks.

• B.S. or higher in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or relateddiscipline.
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience in the latest NGS technologies.Industry experience is preferred.
• Extensive experience with Illumina Next Generation Sequencing platforms, including the generation and sequencing of libraries is required.
• Extensive experience in standard molecular biology techniques including the isolation, quantification, and manipulation of both DNA and RNA is required.
• Experience with the 10X Genomics single-cell and spatial transcriptomics platform is preferred.
• Experience communicating and executing work in highly cross-functional projects is required.
• Basic familiarity with standard NGS data processing and analysis pipelines for sequence alignment, processing, and differential gene expression analysis is preferred.
• Previous experience in managerial role in a Genomics Core Facility is preferred.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture including hematopoietic cells and cell lines, including those of human origin is preferred.
• Proven ability to think innovatively and work independently within a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
• Must be well organized, and have the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
