Who You Are:

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of a growing accounting team who will assist in the immediate accounting process-- prepare and post journal entries, analyze transactions, document work papers, among others. This position is an individual contributor. A successful candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, result-oriented, analytical, strong attention to detail, and highly motivated to consistently deliver excellence in his or her work.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the monthly accounting close of general ledger-assigned accounts to ensure the integrity of account balances. Research and propose resolutions for identified issues or discrepancies
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forward analysis, and related supporting work papers. Ensure quality of work products and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Review and analyze reports, invoices, contracts, POs, as needed, to determine the appropriate journal entries
  • Prepare fluctuation analysis for assigned accounts, as needed
  • Prepare audit and tax requested schedules and address follow up items
  • Assist in the treasury function, such as processing of ACH, wire and check payments
  • Collaborate, liaise and assist other accounting team members as needed
  • Compliance with SOX requirements—ensure control procedures are executed and work paper documentation is SOX compliant; prepare all necessary data and analysis to support external audit, internal control, and SOX testing requests


Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 2+ years of combined accounting and/or audit experience
  • Biotech experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting procedures
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) highly desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic including sound judgment, outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently
  • Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Results and detailed-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards process improvements
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
  • Must be able to collaborate and communicate (oral and written) effectively
  • High sense of urgency and knowledge to identify creative solutions to advanced, time-sensitive problems by balancing achievement of process objectives with practical considerations.
  • A high degree of organizational agility, able to handle sensitive issues with prudent discretion across all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure
