The role is critical to drive the constant enhancement of Gilead's Procurement function, specifically Responsible Sourcing. The role is broad-based and will be responsible for working with our clients in support of their Responsible Sourcing programs including Supplier Diversity, Sustainability, and Risk Management programs.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for rapid career growth and development - the selected candidate will have an opportunity to partner with a diverse group of stakeholders across multiple procurement categories on a global basis.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Support the establishment and maturity of Responsible Sourcing programs - specifically, Supplier Diversity, Sustainability, and Risk Management aspects.

Assist the leadership team in defining program goals, metrics, and a long-range plan for Responsible Sourcing initiatives;

Present and report progress to all levels of management Communicate and partner effectively with client teams and drive engagement with Small and Diverse suppliers to promote and develop small and diverse suppliers within Gilead Collaborate with business partners to engage targeted suppliers that significantly impact client Scope 3 emission programs

Expand supplier risk management protocols across the business by enhancing processes and incorporating new technology and tracking mechanisms

Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate program governance

Ensure opportunities and understanding for new suppliers, develop/provide training suppliers to ensure they understand how to do business with Gilead

Manage and improve Responsible Sourcing content and communication channels, including, but not limited to, supplier landing page, internal intranet page, training resources, and events

Responsible for training/awareness, including providing Responsible Sourcing training for company Procurement representatives

Work closely with Sourcing, Procurement & Legal to insure appropriate Responsible Sourcing language is incorporated into bid opportunities and contracts

Attend external Responsible Sourcing events for the purpose of engagement with the Responsible Sourcing community

Maintain process integrity, adherence to internal policies and controls, and ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Minimum education and years of relevant experience, including experience in biotech/pharma sector and/or professional services (e.g. consulting, finance, legal, and/or corporate experience in a relevant function)

o B.S./B.A. + 10 or more years of experience

o M.B.A./Masters + 8 or more years of experience

o PhD + 2 or more years of experience

At least 2 years proven work experience directly within a corporate Responsible Sourcing Program

A passion for Responsible Sourcing programs and considered an expert in the field.

Contributes to the development of complex, new concepts, techniques, and standards.

Ability to translate overall direction and strategy; communicated across organizational levels and functions.

Serves as a consultant to management and acts as a special external spokesperson for the organization on significant matters pertaining to its policies, plans and objectives.

Experience evaluating and managing industry leading Procurement tools and technologies

Proficiency in Procurement and end-to-end procure-to-pay process

Knowledge of laws and regulations that apply to a Responsible Sourcing Program

Strong supplier relationship and managerial skills

Proven ability to lead projects to successful completion

Strong communication and presentation skills

Strong data collection and analysis skills

Proven problem-solving skills

Proven track record working with teams

Proven ability to quickly establish credibility with diverse audiences and be perceived as a leader

Proven ability to influence or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations

Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with dotted line and non-reporting functions

High level of self-motivation, leadership, positive attitude, and a strong work ethic
