As a key member of the Enterprise Data Management organization, you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining high-quality, consistent, accurate and controlled Master Data for the Enterprise. You will play a vital role in establishing the processes and leading junior staff to maintain controls aimed at acquiring and mastering master data objects.

You will interact with Amgen's Data Management leaders worldwide through the Data Governance forums, where data anomalies and remediation plans are discussed and tracked.

  • In collaboration with data owners and data stewards, define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise master data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable
  • Design, develop and maintain a flexible data model for any type of Master Data object (Customer, Product, Facility, Employee, Supplier, Patient, etc.)
  • Develop data standards for Master Data Critical Data Elements
  • Lead squad teams to prioritize the mastering of new data sources to ensure alignment to published data standards in the Enterprise Data Fabric
  • Assist in data management, governance, and data quality of master data requirements with other functional data owners to ensure functional master data integrity across the enterprise is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements
  • Supervise data archival to rid the ecosystem of old, unused data, or duplicate data for better management and quicker access
  • Define and implement KPIs for Master Data (e.g. master data critical attributes not captured according to the predefined standards or reference values)

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience


Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience


Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience


Associate degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to profile against data standards
  • Advanced knowledge in Data Quality tools (e.g. Informatica IDQ or alike)
  • Ability to document Data Quality Business Rules for data elements
  • Proficient in Data Governance tool integration with Data Quality packages and tools
  • Ability to create Data Quality dashboards and report results to Business Data Stewards and Data Owners
  • Solid understanding of relevant data standards and industry trends
  • Knowledge of relevant external regulations that impact master data and data management processes
  • Ability to understand new business requirements and prioritize them for delivery
  • Proficient in one of the coding languages (Python, Java, Scala)
  • Hands on experience writing SQL using any RDBMS (Redshift, Postgres, MySQL, Teradata, Oracle, etc.).
  • Experience with Schema Design & Dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience with AWS Services like EC2, S3, Redshift/Spectrum, Glue, Athena, RDS, Lambda, and API gateway.
  • Experience with software DevOps CI/CD tools, such Git, Jenkins, Linux, and Shell Script
  • Experience with Spark, Hive, Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Streaming, and Airflow.
  • Hands on experience using Databricks/Jupyter or similar notebook environment.
  • Experience working in an agile environment (i.e. user stories, iterative development, etc.)
  • Experience working with test-driven development and software test automation
  • Experience working in Product teams environment
