This is a research position for a highly motivated Associate Scientist to support the Research and New Vector Technologies group. The candidate will support the early development and evaluation of AAV-based therapeutics, including vector optimization, development of in vitro cell system, and the development of research-grade assay in support of preclinical studies.
What you'll do:
  • Independently plan and execute experiments, analyze, and communicate results.
  • Proactive in solving technical problems through data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Perform broad range of cell and molecular biology techniques (e.g. state of the art cloning methods, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, qPCR/RTqPCR, WB, ELISA, MSD assay, Immunohistochemistry, cell culture, flow cytometry, etc.)
  • Provide bioanalytical support to in vivo preclinical studies to quantify AAV vector pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.
  • Perform research-grade assays (WB, ELISA, MSD, qPCR, RTqPCR, immunohistochemistry).
  • Cloning of vector constructs and in vitro screening for expression and functionality, in cell lines and/or tissue explant cultures.
  • Provide support for the QC analysis of AAV vector lots (qPCR/ddPCR titration, WB, SS, endotoxin assay, gel analysis).
  • Support and assist the members of the team, as needed.

About you:
  • Minimum of 8 year for BS or 5 years for MS, of research experience in academia/industry
  • Strong proficiency with molecular biology technics, including but not limited to molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, mRNA and DNA quantification/analysis (RT/qPCR, ddPCR), sequencing (Sanger), protein analysis and immunoassays (Western Blot, ELISA), plate-based reporter and/or enzymatic activity assays.
  • Experienced in immunohistochemistry and microscopy is a plus.
  • Strong skills with demonstrated track record in cell culture: sterile technique for handling and maintenance of mammalian/insect cells, non-viral or viral gene transfer, DNA editing and flow cytometry.
  • Previous experience with stable cell line development, tissue explant cultures, primary cell lines and/or iPS is a plus.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and experience with a variety of scientific software applications is required (including Microsoft Office, Prism, Geneious, etc).
  • Demonstrable track record of solving technical problems through data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, time-management, and organization skills are required.
  • Proven ability to work independently under minimal supervision, self-motivated to learn and develop new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate and timely records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Familiarity with drug product development and AAV gene therapy is a plus.
  • Work authorization in the US required.
