The US federal and state governments are significant customers of AbbVie, ensuring patients covered under their numerous healthcare programs have access to our medicines. One of the most significant programs is Medicaid, which provides healthcare benefits to indigent and disadvantaged individuals.
AbbVie contributes to the success of this program by providing discounted prices on our products.
Incumbent will be responsible for,
Calculation and publishing of Medicaid pricing on a quarterly basis
Provide financial analyses in support of the various government pricing calculations (i.e. Best Price (BP) and Unit Rebate Amounts (URA)).
Must possess an ability to resolve problems quickly utilizing a variety of detailed data sources, as well as documenting rationale for resulting decisions.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Process and review calculations for quarterly Medicaid pricing and prepare and present summaries to management.
Data analytics and problem solving with regards to Government Pricing calculations; trending analyses and presentations to leadership team.
Create and implement Medicaid programs and contract rebate formulas within Model N ensuring both compliance with legislation and contract requirements.
Support and test government system upgrades, SQL reporting queries and/or enhancements impacting the area.
Perform ad hoc legal, management, and customer requests and other duties, as assigned.
Maintain procedural documentation as required by changes in legislation and business practices.
Perform periodic monitoring to ensure accurate data accuracy and completeness and proactively identify changes in the business that may impact Medicaid calculations.
Develop and foster solid relationships that facilitate job activities.
Position Accountability and Scope:
Incumbent is responsible for processing Medicaid price information on a timely and accurate basis. This individual must possess a high degree of integrity, problem solving, analytical skills, good judgment, and the ability to prioritize work.
Failure to adequately maintain pricing information will result in under/over payment of rebates and possible litigation, which in turn will cause additional
work and significant financial exposure for both AbbVie and our customers.
The incumbent must demonstrate sound business judgment within the scope of defined guidelines. This position will report to the Manager, Government Programs. This position will have frequent interaction with other
Government Pricing managers and analysts due to an interdependence of government calculations.
B.A./B.S. required. Government pricing experience preferred, not required.
Three or more years’ experience in financial/analytical roles in positions of increasing responsibility is required, preferably in government pricing. Incumbent must have gained a basic understanding of Medicaid law, Medicaid/Medicare Fraud & Abuse statutes, and AbbVie’s Corporate Compliance Program within 6 months of assuming responsibilities.
Problem solving and integrity are key competencies of this position.
Must have intermediate or higher-level skills with: MS Access, Excel and WORD and must have excellent data skills.
The current department process and procedures include using: MS Excel formulas, Pivot Tables, Index Matching, Macros, MS Access Queries and Databases.
The employee will be required to master these skills within 6 months of entering this job function.
Proficiency with Model N RCE, TM1, and other related government systems and interfaces is desirable but not required.
