Overview:

The Content Strategist helps create and maximize the use of impactful, high-quality content across channels and audiences to enhance and protect AbbVie’s reputation and accelerate business objectives. An exceptional writer and content strategist, the content producer is able to break down complex topics into compelling, digestible narratives, while delivering against clear marketing and communications objectives. Working closely with key partners across corporate marketing, corporate communications, brand communications, HR, GA, affiliates and other functional teams, this role is critical in helping us drive brand awareness, affinity, and value through the strategic use of content.

Reports to: Senior Director, Brand and Content Marketing

 

Primary Job Function:

  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop original content in a variety of formats, from web content and articles to social content, infographics, videos, and more
  • Build and execute content strategies that support our corporate objectives, while reinforcing the AbbVie brand narrative  
  • Collaborate closely with other functional teams to map and optimize content for each user persona, while leveraging measurement to test and learn and ultimately improve our efforts
  • Maximize the value and reach of our content by turning high-performing assets into a library of derivative pieces for use in multiple channels
  • Be a steward of best practices in messaging, grammar, writing, style, as well as design and social media best practices
  • Support how we measure and report on content performance; and optimize based on results
  • Help develop standards, processes, and tools to drive greater efficiencies in how we work and operate as a cross-functional team
  • Stay on top of content marketing trends and bring new ideas for to explore and test

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of content development experience, preferably in healthcare, B2B or regulated industry (either client or agency based)
  • Minimum of 3 years digital marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Integrated Marketing or equivalent
  • Strong business acumen; experience in healthcare/bio-pharma a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with curiosity and knowledge of emerging communications and creative trends, platforms
  • Strong portfolio of published work that demonstrates exceptional writing skills and ability to translate complex topics into simple, digestible content
  • A thinker and a doer mindset—excited about driving strategy while simultaneously rolling up your sleeves to concept, write and edit content in a variety of formats
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative team player with great interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to deliver feedback thoughtfully and receive it gracefully
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
