About Mantra Bio:

At Mantra Bio, we seek to eliminate disease-related suffering to enhance the well-being of all. We believe that the key to creating cures is targeted, tissue-specific delivery of therapeutics for dramatically increased efficacy and reduced toxicity. To achieve this, our team of biologists, data scientists, and platform engineers have created REVEALTM, a targeted cargo delivery platform that harnesses exosomes, the body's natural cellular transport system, to create highly tunable exosome therapeutics for some of the most devastating diseases. The foundation of our success is our truly interdisciplinary team of experts who work collaboratively to use the power of data science to fuel and accelerate our wet-lab successes. As a team, we value Self-Empowerment, Candor, Curiosity, and Collaboration and consider our human-centric culture to be our most important asset. We are proud to count 8VC, Viking, Illumina, Allen & Company and TenCent among our investors. Mantra Bio operates out of a newly constructed facility in South San Francisco.

About the role:

Mantra Bio is seeking an experienced Bioinformatician to join our Data Team. You will be a key contributor to our exosome therapeutic programs that span both early R&D and preclinical IND efforts, collaborating across Mantra Bio with Preclinical Scientists, Protein Scientists, and Data Scientists. The position requires broad technical experience developing robust data pipelines and deep knowledge of applied statistics in biology, medicine, or a closely related field. You will facilitate scientists’ access to internal and public data, perform statistical analysis for in vitro and in vivo experiments, and train scientists on statistical tools and methods. Together with our Data Scientists and Engineers, you will expand Mantra Bio’s data-centric approach to drive good, scalable science and accelerate progress toward our therapeutic mission.

  • Provide consultations and trainings on well-powered in vitro and in vivo experiment designs
  • Provide consultations and trainings on proper statistical tests for various types of analyses, from small datasets like animal studies to larger datasets like RNA-seq
  • Ingest publicly available datasets into our internal company architecture to power algorithm development by our Data Science team
  • Create or verify trustworthy publication-level figures from critical in-house studies that will be presented at high-impact board and investor meetings
  • Act as a general mentor to Mantra Bio employees in areas of experimental design, quality control, statistical analysis, and graphical presentation of data
  • Train benchlab scientists to conduct their own analyses in R and Python through Jupyterlab notebooks
  • Analyze and present results using graphs and tables in R or Python as requested by the CEO, CTO and CSO on key performance metrics (KPIs) using data logged by our scientists

Your profile:

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field required
  • Proficient in Python, including data wrangling packages like numpy and pandas
  • Experience programmatically accessing public datasets such as TCGA, Gene Ontology, or Gene Expression Omnibus
  • Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Skilled in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphical representation of data
  • Strong understanding of statistical tests and exploratory statistics, including both metrics and plots, and when to use them
  • Experience committing code using git and doing code reviews in a tool like Github or Bitbucket is nice to have
  • Experience using the R programming language and writing code in Jupyter notebooks is nice to have
  • At least 1 year of work experience writing code in an industry setting desired
