What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. Amgen Oncology Research is seeking a Scientist to lead preclinical studies for our solid tumor BiTE® (bispecific T cell engager) portfolio. In this vital role you will support cross-functional product teams focused on prostate cancer and lung cancer.
  • Support fast-paced early stage clinical teams by developing a preclinical strategy and delivering scientific evidence to inform BiTE molecule combinations and mechanisms of resistance
  • Interact closely with clinical development and biomarker leads to identify key areas of research focus
  • Identify contract labs to conduct preclinical studies, write workplans and manage outsourced studies
  • Establish and maintain interactions with academic collaborators, including writing workplans, designing studies and managing the collaborations
  • Conduct preclinical research, and manage direct reports to conduct preclinical research, focused on BiTE molecule mechanism of action, activity and resistance, combinations and evaluation of additional tumor indications
  • Manage timelines and deliverables of preclinical data to support clinical studies
  • Present preclinical data at scientific conferences and lead writing of preclinical manuscripts

Basic qualifications:

Doctorate degree
Or

Master's degree and 4 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience
Or

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience
Preferred qualifications:
  • Demonstrated independence in critical thinking and scientific achievement, such as through first or senior author publications in top-tier journals and awarded grants
  • Broad and deep knowledge of cancer biology and immunology, including therapeutic development in solid tumors
  • Experience leading collaborations with academic investigators or contract research laboratories
  • Experience leading and mentoring a research group
  • Experience with T cell targeted therapy including technical knowledge of in vitro cell culture and in vivo models, multi-color flow cytometry, cell-based assays and imaging methods
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
