Job Details

Our Mission: Developing curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

At Intellia, we are committed to solving the complex challenges of making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to create novel engineered cell therapies for immuno-oncological and autoimmune diseases.

Job Description:

Intellia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Process Engineer to join our LNP Process Sciences team. The successful applicant will have a strong background in scale-up, process development, and manufacture of particle-based drug products. The candidate will focus on developing and implementing scalable and robust processes related to the formulation of lipid nanoparticles (LNP) with nucleic acids. In addition, the role will help lead late-stage drug product development activities for lead pre-clinical programs through process robustness/characterization studies, understanding product quality, and helping to refine the product control strategy. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute experiments related to process improvements and optimization of lead Lipid Nanoparticle formulations
  • Lock the process and define critical process parameters.
  • Lead experiments to confirm robust process performance
  • Explore, develop, and scale-up novel drug product processes
  • Characterization of final nanoparticle formulations in conjunction with Analytical Development
  • Interact with internal and external groups to manufacture and supply formulations for in vivo studies
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations as it relates to process optimization and scale-up
  • Write and review protocols and batch records for drug product processes
  • Develop intellectual property, publishing scientific papers and other tasks related to the company's scientific and business interests

Qualifications:
  • BS in Life Sciences, Chemical or Biological Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience, or Masters with 7+ years of industry experience
  • Experience designing, executing, and analyzing particle-based drug delivery systems
  • Demonstrated experience with process development and scale-up of complex drug products
  • Preferably has prior experience with LNP formulations with nucleic acids
  • Preferably has prior experience working with a frozen or lyophilized particle-based drug product.
  • Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter who continuously seeks to improve existing laboratory methods and processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
