Duties & Responsibilities

MSC is seeking a Software Architect to support enterprise IT systems at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Contingent on Award.



Primary Responsibilities:

Work cooperatively as a member of a software development team to:
  • Access software design within client environment and then create solutions to highly complex problems by applying analytical insight and core computer science concepts.
  • Leading architecture decisions regarding software architecture design and organization of dozens of applications within cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Designing architecture for highly scalable and resilient applications and microservices in the Azure cloud platform.
  • Create technical roadmap, produce technical diagrams and architectural plans, and provide technical leadership on ongoing software development, maintenance, migration and database development projects.
  • Produce conceptual architectures. Support of data model updates, access impact analysis, and design interfaces.
  • Diagnose production issues with software, databases, scripts etc. and collaborate with infrastructure operations and support group.
  • Develop proof of concepts for integration of custom applications with COTS or GOTS software.
  • Help institute utilization of Test-Driven Development methods.
  • Collaboratively work with team members on requirements' analysis, design, programming, configuration management, accessibility remediation and compliance, and quality assurance.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Math or related technical majors.
  • Diverse technical expertise and 10+ years of experience in designing, development, testing and maintenance of software solutions within DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
  • Extensive design and programming experience with Java with Spring Boot, OpenJDK, JUnit, and JSON
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices
  • Experience with Containerization and API security
  • Web development, OOD/OOP, REST, OpenAPI
  • Extensive SQL knowledge/experience (SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • Linux experience
  • Team leadership experience
  • Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Jira and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of and experience with ETL tools and Data Warehousing.
  • Agile development experience.
