AbbVie Operations is seeking a motivated self-starter to lead/support the continuous operation of North Chicago BTS and Automation systems, in establishing a stable and future-ready digital foundation in accordance with the company’s Advanced North Star capabilities. The Business Technology Solutions (BTS)/Data Analytics Team is a dynamic group of IT, Automation Operation Technology (OT), and Business specialists who work together to deliver manufacturing software solutions, drive standardization, innovation, optimization, identify requirements for future enhancements.  

The team is looking to add a knowledgeable site IT/OT/Automation/Business subject matter expert (SME) to support and lead the  manufacturing operations, within an exciting time of multiple new product introductions and deployments, work directly with the business functions for optimization opportunities and represent these functions LRP and system enhancement planning.

• Provides in-depth technical expertise & direction in the development and support of client area application systems/programming requirements and processes (e.g. new, enhancements or maintenance), in the preparation of application system specifications, and in the development, testing, and implementation of efficient, cost effective application solutions.
• Assists departmental objectives by developing strategic roadmaps for Applications, Process Control systems in conjunction with Digital Systems and business management resources.
• Supports in establishing a stable and future-ready digital foundation: rollout of OSI/PI Dashboard development to visualize and analyze data to gain insights, Data integration across critical platforms for business intelligence
• Conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, or technology solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; Routinely demonstrate initiative and creativity in developing technology solutions.
• Work collaboratively with technology and business groups to conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, and technology solutions that solve significant scientific or business problems. 
• Investigate, identify, and implement state-of-the-art technology platforms that drive productivity and efficiency gains in own function and throughout multiple business areas. 
• Contribute to advancement of technology in area of expertise. Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across multiple disciplines. 
• Acts as the lead technical expert for Applications: such as OSI, Serialization, Manufacturing Execution Systems and other.
• Maintains system availability, prepares metrics to evaluate systems performance, and works with stakeholders and users to ensure that service objectives are met.
• Provides input and recommendations regarding business continuance issues and improvements to operating systems and processes.
• Provides guidance, technical advice, planning and project management both within the group and with outside consultants and vendors. 
• Provides training for onsite Users / Engineers in Automation technologies and applications.
• Provides after hours (on call) support as needed on a regular rotation.
• Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor. Accountable for total project scope, budget, completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date. Accountable for successful and timely completion of all tasks/projects under direct and matrix control.
• Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

 
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years work relevant experience preferred.
• Experience administering and/or configuring in data historian systems such as OSISoft PI required. The incumbent must also have experience with commissioning and qualification.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems such as POMSnet, Emerson Syncade, Werum PAS-X, etc. 
• Experience with coding in VB, C#, or other standard programming languages a plus.
• Experience with PLCs (such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), programming in ladder logic and instructional texts, and HMI screen development and management would be a plus.
• Experience designing and implementing Windows Server Operating Systems and related components including Active Directory, NTFS Setup and Security, User Administration, TCP/IP with DHCP, WINS and DNS would be a plus.
• Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Visualization preferred.  Exposure to Industry 4.0 technology pillars such as augmented reality, big data, internet of things, a plus.
• Other skills and attributes required include: Ability to lead project initiatives. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Proven ability to recognize symptoms, analyze system data, and take corrective actions when problems arise.  This position requires good visual acuity, with a large portion of the time using a PC or other screens.
