Position Title:  Maintenance and Instrumentation Specialist

We are a global leader in taste, scent and nutrition, offering our customers a wide range of science-based solutions.  IFF Palo Alto CA (formerly DuPont Industrial Biosciences, Genencor Technology and Innovation Center) is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Facilities team as a Maintenance and Instrumentation Specialist working in our state-of-the-art R&D fermentation lab and pilot plant.  In this role, you will be part of a talented creative team applying cutting edge processes, equipment and biotechnology to address customer needs in a wide range of applications.  If you are a team player who willingly shares and accepts responsibilities, helps others and asks for help when needed, and has strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities this is the role for you.

Job Description

 

  • Ability to understand blueprints, P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, SOP/BOM, and related material
  • Detailed troubleshooting abilities, along with various other types of process instrumentation knowledge such as Load Cells, pH/Temperature/Agitation control loops
  • Ability to operate multimeters and general tools of the trade
  • Solid knowledge of control loops both 0-10vdc and 4-20 mA and AC/DC circuits.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic disciplines, pneumatic devices, mechanical and other related theories and concepts to allow for proper troubleshooting and problem analysis of their environment
  • Exposure to PLC platforms (such as Rockwell / Siemens / GE / ABB)
  • Exposure to SCADA platforms (such as Intouch, ifix, Inductive Automation)
  • Able to install Microsoft OS and OS drivers to bare industrial PCs
  • Exposure to industrial communication protocols (such as RS-485, Profibus, Profinet)
  • Exposure to 3 phase motors and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Ability to understand electrical control to its mechanical function
  • Generate proper reports, follow up on associated corrective and preventive measures

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Experience:  More than 5 years with instrumentation, process equipment, building maintenance
  • Education:  AA/AS Degree in electrical/electronic or Instrumentation Technology Training
  • There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, overtime, weekends, when necessary
