Founded in 2011, GBT is delivering on its goal to transform the treatment and care of sickle cell disease (SCD), a lifelong, devastating inherited blood disorder. The company has introduced Oxbryta® (voxelotor), the first FDA-approved treatment that directly inhibits sickle hemoglobin polymerization, the root cause of red blood cell sickling in SCD.

Internship Summary:

At GBT, our goal for an internship is to share with students the roles and responsibilities within their career of interest. We plan to provide you with a general sense of the types of projects, skills and knowledge needed to perform the role, cross functional exposure to various groups within the bio/pharmaceutical industry to enhance your knowledge and readiness for after college employment.

An internship can help a student start to build a professional network that can be a resource for the student. A network can help a student make well-informed decisions about their career and connect them with other professionals or opportunities that will help a student achieve success in a field.

GBT seeks a Corporate Communications Intern to assist in the development and execution of programs that support broader corporate communications. Responsibilities include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing support that helps drive the success of departmental and cross-functional communications projects, including World Sickle Cell Day
  • Identify, create and deliver engaging content that can be leveraged across GBT communications such as the company's press releases, intranet, all employee meetings and social media channels
  • Contribute to GBT's social media strategy by analyzing community posts, finding content to share and engage with and helping shape our paid social strategy to motivate action around sickle cell disease
  • Contribute to the development of the GBT corporate calendar and employee communications editorial calendar
  • Create and maintain a system to organize and maintain GBT's corporate asset library (e.g., photos, videos, logos)
  • Support the planning, development and execution of additional corporate communications activities such as our biannual communications measurement report


Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in their junior/senior year with plans to return to school in the fall
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree related to Communications
  • A successful candidate will have an interest or experience in public relations or another communication field, whether through school major or internships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to research and recommend innovative approaches to communication
  • Critical thinker and creative problem solver with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
