Just is seeking a highly motivated and creative Associate Scientist that desires a significant opportunity to help invent the technologies required to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This position will be part of a cross-disciplinary team discovering therapeutic antibodies from display libraries and optimization campaigns. The successful candidate will support the invention, design, and implementation of cell-based, functional bioassay and immunoassay methods to drive biotherapeutic development. A strong foundation in assay development, cell biology and molecular biology is required for this position, with additional experience in antibody discovery, target validation, in vivo PK models and automation preferred. This individual must also possess strong communication and collaboration skills, a desire to learn new scientific concepts and domains, and an ability to work directly with scientific staff across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and in teams to develop, implement, and routinely execute cell-based bioassays such as reporter assays, proliferation, signaling, internalization, cytotoxicity, immunogenicity and immunoassays
  • Perform mammalian cell culture, generate transient and stable cell line transfectants
  • Routinely utilize FACS, plate spectrophotometers and other appropriate instrumentation
  • Analyze, organize, summarize, and present data and results at department and project team meetings
  • Stay informed of science and technology developments in the field and suggest process improvements to team
  • Maintain a detailed and organized record of experiments in an electronic notebook

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • B.S./M.S. degree in life sciences, cellular/molecular biology, or other related discipline with 0-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with tissue culture, cell-based assays and immunoassays
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong focus on quality and attention to detail
  • Possess effective task/time management organizational skills
  • Ability to work in small groups as well as independently

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with designing and constructing expression vectors
  • Experience with Sanger DNA sequencing data analysis
  • Experience in antibody discovery processes
  • Experience with liquid handling automation
  • Experience with functional assays using primary cells
  • Familiarity with target validation for antibody discovery, in vivo efficacy and PK models
