The Director, Sourcing is responsible to develop & lead global sourcing strategies within the DPM-CMO categories. We are looking for a proven business team influencer & collaborator by advising Regeneron commercial teams on global supply market dynamics and leading practices which maximize value, minimize risk, and ensure quality & cost effectiveness. The Director works effectively with ambiguity to create strategies that meet future global business demands in the sourcing area of responsibility. Leads a team (either directly or matrix) of Sourcing personnel who are accountable for translating business needs into contracting requirements that align with the overall category strategy. The Director will work closely with key category management peers to develop strong relationships and drive consistency in how supplier work is sourced within the global market. The Director Sourcing is responsible to lead the global market Supplier Management Program including risk, performance, relationship, and supplier development pillars.

A typical day might include the following:
  • Applies advanced judgement, planning, and independent thought leadership in order to influence positive business program outcomes and drive the sourcing team deliverables
  • Provides counsel and execution support to executives and individual department leaders
  • Either directly, or through a matrix, manages an organization of procurement professionals responsible for carrying out global market sourcing projects
  • Implements effective sourcing strategies using advanced supply market strategies and knowledge
  • Develops and communicates functional strategy and objectives for sourcing in alignment with global business strategy and operational requirements
  • Supports the overall business plan for the organization with significant impact on the success of company operations
  • Acts as a champion of the strategic sourcing process for the global market spend area of responsibilities
  • Provides coaching, guidance, support, and overall leadership to the team to ensure goals are achieved
  • Leads a team responsible for all activities associated with the development and execution of contracts for all aspects of the business within the global supply market
  • Identifies/defines best practices from both within and outside of Regeneron and ensures those practices are adopt
This role could be for you if:
  • You can direct and oversees all day to day execution of Regeneron's global sourcing strategies
  • Act as part of the leadership team, influences the strategic direction of how Regeneron leverages service providers
  • You are willing to liaise with finance to ensure all sourcing activities comply with Regeneron's financial controls, ensure ongoing engagement with finance throughout a program's lifecycle for appropriate levels of contract and budgetary oversight
  • Lead or participate in supplier governance committees
  • Review major contracts and acts as an expert resource for planning and leading complex negotiations
  • Provides coaching and guidance on job performance and career development to direct reports (as applicable); builds and directs talent building and development objectives for direct reports
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to develop and critique detailed business cases
In order to be considered for this role, you must possess a Bachelor's plus 12 years of relevant, progressive experience within procurement. Including 7 years directly in sourcing Pharma/Biotech. Or you possess a Master's plus 10 years of relevant, progressive experience within procurement, to preferably include 5 years directly in sourcing within Pharma/Biotech.
  • Requires 4+ years of supervisory experience or demonstrated experience leading a matrix team Working knowledge with Sourcing Contracting, ERP, eRFX systems preferred. (Oracle, Zycus, GEP, Ariba, Other)
  • Ability to leverage standard business applications for communicating, presenting and analyzing (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Cost modeling knowledge
  • Ability to build consensus, teamwork, and creativity within a collaborative team
  • Program management experience and project management experience required
