Amgen is searching for a Finance Sr. Associate. The Senior Associate will report to the Senior Manager and be part of the Corporate Finance team, supporting Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities for the General & Admin (G&A) function. The position will be based at the in Tampa FL at Amgen's new Capability Center and report to management in Thousand Oaks, CA. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Financial Analysis: Prepare long-range plans, annual budgets, strategic assessments, forecasts and/or review actual results compared to forecasts. Provide analytical support to senior management related to key decisions. Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings within the functional area, present those opportunities to senior managers, and assist in implementing them. Interface with other areas of Finance and the business as needed.

Business Partnering: Build strong relationships across functions within the company, work closely with various functions (including the Results Delivery Office and other G&A Functions). Support financial reporting and partner with functional leads as part of the overall planning process and provide key financial support and analysis on an ad-hoc basis.

Other key responsibilities include:

Supporting the monthly close process, completing management/project reports, variance analysis, and presenting results and recommendations to Senior Management. These activities require the ability to gather and analyze data, understand and communicate cost variance drivers, and establish effective working relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Finance/Accounting experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Finance/Accounting experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Finance/Accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience
  • Prior experience with corporate planning software (Hyperion, Tableau, SAP) and strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented; excellent analytical and math skills
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Able to take the initiative and work under a minimum of direction
