We are seeking a Scientist for our small molecule screening laboratory site located in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate for this position would work in the Molecular Biology Team in assisting with execution of a cell-based high-throughput small molecule screen using automation platforms.

Essential laboratory duties would include, but not be limited to:

  • Tissue culture maintenance, including preparation of media and laboratory solutions, culturing, freezing and thawing multiple cell lines
  • Conduct molecular biology workflows involving high complexity steps in the context of RNA isolation and library preparation for next generation sequencing
  • Perform general duties, including laboratory upkeep, reagent aliquoting, and coordination of instrument maintenance
  • Make detailed observations and maintain clear and accurate documentation of all laboratory work in laboratory notebooks and electronic management systems
  • Test and implement protocols on laboratory automation
  • Collaborate and interact with laboratory automation personnel

Additional responsibilities:

  • Order, log in, restock, and coordinate shipments of equipment and supplies
  • Manage equipment, supplies, and reagents through an electronic laboratory management software
     

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or Biological Sciences
  • OR M.S. in a relevant field for individuals with at least 5 years of experience working in a wet lab environment outside of a classroom
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

Experience:

  • Expertise in cell line maintenance
  • Mastery of fundamental molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation and library preparation
  • Familiarity with high-throughput environments using laboratory automation such as liquid handlers
  • Some experience with high-throughput drug screening and compound management
