Flow Cytometry Sr Scientist Specialist

The Tumor Microenvironment Thematic Research Center (TME TRC) is focused on developing therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor, stromal and immune biology within the TME with the goal of enhancing responsiveness to checkpoint blockade and targeted therapies. Comprising of scientists across multiple disciplines we are responsible for the biology and translational science necessary to support drug development from target identification through to first in human studies.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate scientist to join the flow cytometry group. We are seeking a team player with in-depth understanding of flow cytometry and the technology, who possesses the ability and experience to operate both analytical and sorting instrumentation for scientists within the TME-TRC.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily instrument, maintenance and optimization, quality control and operation of analyzers (10) and cell sorters (5) (BD LSRFortessa X20, BDAria2, BD Symphony A5, Cytoflex, Sony SH800 and MA900, Cytek Aurora)

  • Provides operator-assisted cell sorting in direct support of R&D teams, maintains and organizes schedules for cell sorting equipment.

  • Provides technical consultation in sample preparation assays, staining protocols and assay development.

  • Provide basic instrument training, support development of training programs, effectively communicates, and gives hands-on support/consultation to new and existing site users in instrument setup and experimental design

  • Manages and supplies supply inventory for flow cytometry consumables and reagents

  • Maintain current and develop new SOPs for all aspects of instrument operation

Qualifications:

  • B.S or M.S in a scientific field with minimum of 8+ years (B.S) or 3+ years (M.S) relevant experience in industry, contract research organization, or pharma setting

  • Must be an expert in flow cytometry instrumentation, assay design, troubleshooting,

  • Ensures and manages maintenance of cell sorters, analyzers, and other systems.

  • Experience operating BD, Beckman Coulter, Sony, Cytek systems and other flow cytometry platforms is required

  • Good computer skills are essential

  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork spirit and the ability to work with a large, diverse group of researchers

  • Flexibility to provide support for experiments that do not always fit into a regular schedule.

  • Good time management and prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to clearly communicateand operate in a highly matrixed environment
