Sr. Accountant/Senior Accountant II, Manufacturing and Inventory

The Senior Accountant, Manufacturing and Inventory will track and budget the overall performance and development of manufacturing operations, defining the business performance standards and metrics, as well as drive/create internal financial processes and reporting structure. This role will ensure appropriate due diligence is applied to business decisions and maintain the integrity of reported information. This role will be responsible for the financial reporting and analysis of manufacturing operations, including inventory and COGS, for both the OMIDRIA and Narsoplimab product lines. The position plays a critical role in partnering with senior leadership to drive strategic decision making and improve processes.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market and orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases, disorders of the central nervous system and immune-related diseases, including cancers. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

What are your job responsibilities?

  • Manage accrual and prepaid accounting of manufacturing spend based on operational data, invoice and reconciliation tracking to accurately record month-end entries
  • Manage the reporting of inventory, working closely with the Sr. Manager, Revenue and Cost Reporting to reconcile vial counts
  • Partner with the manufacturing and supply chain to develop budgets & forecasts of manufacturing spend and future inventory levels
  • Review and approval of manufacturing spend
  • Build, analyze and update financial models for tracking of manufacturing and inventory levels
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly cost variance analysis comparing actual program spend to budget, forecast and historical trends
  • Provide all stakeholders with accurate, timely financial information to support decision making and financial reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors for auditor's requests to ensure timely and efficient quarterly reviews and annual audit execution, resolving any issues or problems encountered during the review/audit process related to manufacturing and inventory
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing operations and other departments to educate and train in GAAP reporting and SOX compliance
What education and experience do you need?

  • BA/BS/MBA degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel
  • 5-8 years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience with 2+ years in a business partner role is required for a Sr. Accountant; 8+years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience with 2+ years in a business partner role is required for a Sr. Accountant II.
  • Knowledge of how to account for and budget manufacturing and supply chain costs, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, along with an ability to research relevant accounting treatment and document accounting conclusions in a technical memo
  • A self-starter, analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills who can pinpoint and research solution
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and support opportunities for process improvements within own activities and stakeholders' operations
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Oracle experience is a plus
  • Life Sciences background and CPA designation are a plus
  • Background in public accounting is a plus
  • Advanced negotiation, dispute resolution and influencing skills are a plus
