During this program, you will join Computational and Data Sciences team within Therapeutic Discovery and apply molecular dynamics to understand the mechanism of protein-ligand interaction, and develop advanced modeling techniques to facilitate ration drug design, with the guidance from computational and medicinal chemists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers.
  • Perform literature research on disease target
  • Perform molecule dynamics simulation, energy landscape analysis and free energy calculations
  • Analyze protein ligand interactions and develop novel modeling techniques

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Currently enrolled in a Master's internship OR a PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of Master's OR PhD program before internship starts

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in computational chemistry, biology, biophysics or other science/engineering field with a focus on molecular dynamics simulation of protein systems.
  • Familiarity with molecular dynamics simulation software (Desmond, AMBER, GROMACS, NAMD, OpenMM, or others).
  • Working knowledge of molecular modeling and computational chemistry.
  • Experiences using Python or other scripting language to perform computation and data analysis.
