Orum Therapeutics is a private biotech company located in Daejeon, Korea, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. We are developing a novel class of therapeutics to bring new medicines to patients with unmet medical needs. Orum leverages its proprietary antibody, conjugation, and medicinal chemistry platforms to inhibit or degrade intracellular target proteins. We are advancing our first set of oncology candidates toward preclinical development.  


The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive chemist to join our growing medicinal chemistry/bioconjugation drug discovery team. The successful candidate will be skilled in the art of organic synthesis and familiar with modern synthetic methods, analytical data interpretation, troubleshooting reactions, and purifications. The successful candidate will also demonstrate aptitude for learning new therapy areas as Orum expands its pipeline.



  • Design, synthesize, and characterize novel small molecules targeting diverse protein targets.

  • Apply structure-based drug design and computational and modeling approaches to prioritize syntheses.

  • Design and implement key experiments to drive drug discovery programs towards lead selection.

  • Contributes to chemistry strategy aligned with project objectives.

  • Work effectively in cross-functional matrixed drug discovery teams.

  • Communicate research findings in project team meetings and contribute to strategic R&D decisions.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in organic/medicinal chemistry or a related field with 0-3 years' experience, MS degree with 3-6 years' experience, or BS degree with 5-8 years' experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Track record of accomplishment in synthetic chemistry, as indicted by publications in peer reviewed journals.

  • Experience with independent synthetic route design, execution and optimization using modern synthetic techniques.

  • Experience with the selection and application of appropriate purification techniques (flash chromatography, HPLC, etc.) and analytical data (LC/MS, NMR, etc.) to support the execution of synthetic routes.

  • Familiarity with structure-activity and structure-property relationships for small molecules and/ or antibody drug conjugates.
