In this role, the Enterprise Architect - Business Capabilities Architecture, will be responsible for the advancement of Amgen's business capabilities modeling practice, by measuring, scoring and mapping business capabilities to technical solutions. The Enterprise Architect - Business Capabilities Architecture is a member of the Enterprise Architecture team in the Office of the CIO, and has the technical and leadership skills required to advance Amgen's digital innovation goals, has in depth knowledge of business architecture planning, best practices and industry trends, and will collaborate closely with the Shared Services, Functional architecture and engineering communities to deliver world-class enterprise architecture capabilities.

Key Activities for Role includes:

  • Working with functional teams to ensure robust, well-designed systems and applications which are consistent with the Amgen Enterprise Architecture standards and practices, including developing proposals for review by the Enterprise Architecture Review Board.
  • Leading Amgen's ServiceNow application portfolio management (APM) practice to deliver enterprise architecture capabilities to IT Leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud enablement platforms, such as AWS, Salesforce, Azure, Veeva and ServiceNow.
  • Domestic travel up to 10% may be required in the future.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of Enterprise Architecture experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Enterprise Architecture experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Enterprise Architecture experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Enterprise Architecture experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience with implementing TOGAF business architecture practices in large enterprises (preferably Fortune 500, and/or 10,000+ employees).
  • Experience directing solution design, business processes redesign and aligning business requirements to technical solutions in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working in agile methodology, including Product Teams and Product Development models
  • Experience with business capabilities mapping, scoring and maturity modeling for life sciences/pharma industries.
  • Required strong writing skills to write and publish internally white/position papers, technical documentation, SOP's, architectural specifications and more.
  • ITIL Service Management framework and TOGAF architecture framework knowledgeable
  • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and with peers
  • Ability to self-start and effectively operate within a complex and dynamic environment.


This role is eligible to be location agnostic and allow for flexible working hours, with proper justification and approval through Amgen's Flexibility Program.
