Adverum Biotechnologies is currently looking for an In vivo, Ocular Research Associate that will be will perform preclinical development activities supporting work in our lab. 
What you'll do:
  • Perform routine health monitoring of rodent colonies.
  • Administer anesthesia and provide pre-and-post-operative care and monitoring.
  • Perform in vivo studies to support the ocular R&D pipeline.
  • Perform necropsies, blood and tissue collection, and record data for rodent studies.
  • Perform Intravitreal/Subretinal injections in rodents.
  • Perform electroretinography, ocular imaging, and ocular health exams.
  • Maintain rodent breeding colonies with detailed lineage tracking in cloud-based software.
  • Ensure accurate data recording.
  • Interact with preclinical and research scientists and provide constant feedback.
  • Assist with vivarium laboratory maintenance (supply inventory/ordering, equipment maintenance, etc.).
  • Assist with study report writing and/or review.

About you:
  • Degree in biological sciences required with 2 years relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with AALAS Guide and requirements of maintaining an AALAC accredited facility.
  • Proven working knowledge of animal health and housing/husbandry requirements. Keen observation skills with the ability to recognize and respond to animal health issues.
  • Advanced skills on handling, restraining, dosing, and performing a variety of procedures on study animals required.
  • Ability to perform subretinal and intravitreal injections in rodents is highly desirable.
  • Experience with rodent tissue collection under aseptic conditions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaborations skills. Keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies. Detail Oriented. Excellent record keeping. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Prism, PowerPoint.
