Position Summary

Conduct cell line development for recombinant proteins by designing, constructing, and evaluating expression vectors. Perform vector design, construction, and characterization to generate highly productive, high quality, robust cell lines that meet all regulatory requirements. Perform single cell cloning and screen to identify high production clones. Conduct mammalian cell culture in shake flasks and small scale bioreactors to evaluate clones. Document of activities in lab notebooks and draft SOPs. Perform medium and feed optimization of selected clones.

  • Cell line development related activities including molecular cloning, transfection, selection, single cell cloning and cell banking.
  • Perform mammalian cell cultures in multi well plates, shake flasks, and small-scale bioreactors.
  • Optimize media and feed for selected clones.
  • Operate related equipment.
  • Troubleshooting the issues related to cell line development.
  • Write technical reports , SOPs and tech transfer reports
  • Use DOE software to design the experiment and analyze the results.
  • Drive improvements in recombinant proteins production by designing, constructing, and evaluating expression vectors as required.


Minimum Education, Experience and Skills
  • PhD in molecular biology and cell biology or related discipline is required. PhD degree with 1-2 years relevant industry experience. MS or BS with 5 years industry experience in cell line development.
  • Hand on experience with molecular cloning, transfeciton, mammalian cell cultrue of various adherent cells and suspention cells such as Vero, HEK293, CHO cells is required.
  • Experience with automation and high-throughput technologies as applied to mammalian cell line generation and process optimization is a plus.
  • Expereince with design of experiment (DOE) to eveluate clones in Ambr® bioreactors is a plus.
  • Experience with cell culture media analysis and optimization is a plus.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative methods, including ELISA, MSD, fluorescence and IF microscopy, colorimetric, enzymatic assays and reporter assays, FACS assays is prefered.
  • Experience with protein expression and detection by Western Blot and immunostaining is preferred.
  • Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Engineering knowledge/hands on experience with equipment troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Good writing skills and communication skills.
  • Willingness to expand skill set and responsibilities as required.
