Position Summary

The postbaccalaureate internship for recent college graduates is a great opportunity to engage in ground-breaking research and development within the Vaccines Business Unit.

You will work alongside seasoned scientists who strive to discover novel treatments and vaccines for viral and bacterial infections. You will gain experience using multiple data searching and data analysis platforms as well as report writing, product development and program management. The intern will report for 8 hours per day for approximately 1 year. At completion, the intern provides a PowerPoint presentation and a written summary report.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct research in the area infectious disease epidemiology (no laboratory work required). Assist in program management activities including drafting, revising and organizing project reports.
  • Follow good documentation practices and maintain a database of reports.
  • Maintain progress during the internship toward the specific goals outlined for the intern. Adhere to Company safety guidelines and complete all required training.


Minimum Education, Experience and Skills



  • Candidate must have obtained a bachelor's degree in life or health sciences less than one year prior to the date they begin the internship.
  • BS degree in epidemiology, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, public health or a related field.
  • Completed advanced classes in Biology, Epidemiology, Statistics (or Mathematics) and/or Ecology to be able to understand the science and keywords and carry out statistical analyses, literature reviews, and database work.
  • Research experience and experience with database and/or programming packages (e.g., SQL, Access, R, SAS) is a plus but is not required.
  • Understanding of vaccines and/or infectious diseases is a plus but is not required.
  • Must have strong communication, organization, and record keeping skills. Must be self-directed and able to work remotely for the near term.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent organizational and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to use excel spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software
