As a Lab Systems Software Engineer at GRAIL, you'll enjoy working within a broad array of software systems and projects including our custom LIMS (Lab Information Management System) and robotic liquid handling lab automation platforms. We pride ourselves on building effective, efficient, easy to use and scalable software systems to address GRAIL's many sample tracking and automation related challenges. Our LIMS and Lab Automation Software teams are building innovative automated workcell systems. We utilize liquid handling instruments, robot arms and magnetic track systems that are highly scalable and critical to us delivering our test at volume to patients. Our software tech stack includes Golang, AWS, Kubernetes, MySQL, Docker, React, Green Button Go, etc

You Will Be:

• Understanding software workflows for GRAIL products, studies, and internal tools across multiple distributed systems.
• Designing, implementing, expanding and supporting our custom in-house created LIMS and automation software systems.
• Developing and configuring clinical assay software using custom GRAIL systems in collaboration with lab operators, assay designers and automation engineers.
• Using best practices for testing, monitoring, logging, reliability, and security as we scale for production.
• Mentoring and teaching other team members to help improve their skills and elevate the software organization.

Your Background Includes

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 2 years of software industry work experience working within areas such as full-stack applications, lab and healthcare software, LIS/LIMS, clinical systems, microservices or related areas with an interest in software for lab systems.
• Working knowledge of general-purpose programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Javascript, Python, Go.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Being collaborative and the ability to lead projects.
• Willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with AWS infrastructure.
• Experience with database migration, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Experience with laboratory automation software or devices/instrumentation.
• Experience with software development in a regulated industry.
