The Global Marketing and Commercial Operations (GMCO) organization is responsible for advancing late stage assets through succesfull launches globally and ensuring on market success for marketed brands.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Strategy and New Product Planning, Oncology.  The Director will report to the Vice-President, GMCO Oncology and will be based in our offices in Lake County, IL.  The focus of the role will be on helping to shape the overall oncology franchise strategy, providing global commercial input into the oncology pipeline compounds, and helping to assess external/BD opportunities. In addition, this role will be a bridge towards launch preparedness for late stage piepline assets where a Global brand team has not yet been created.


 Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide global commercial input on oncology pipeline compounds as part of the commercial triad from early to late stage and ensure smooth transition to GBT’s
  • Provide global commercial input into assessments of business development opportunities and advise on core forecast assumptions and SG&A requirements
  • Partner closely with GCD leads, U.S. NPP lead and cross-functional teams to develop commercial strategy, key marketing initiatives and deliverables such as market research, Early Brand Plans, positioning, Affiliate Touch Points and asset strategy framework for pipeline assets
  • Actively participate in AST, BST, IEST, VAT and core governance presentations for pipeline compounds to ensure global commercial perspective and needs are incorporated into clinical programs and commercial strategic planning
  • Provide input into the commercial assessments for pipeline compounds including target product profiles and Disease Area Strategies
  • Work closely with U.S. team and cross-functional partners to develop budget recommendation for transitioning pipeline indications to support L-24 GMCO and cross-functional partners’ activities
  • Partner with Finance and Area Commercial Team to guide Financial LRP and Plan assumptions for transitioning indications
  • Track progress of programs through development milestones, governance reviews and affiliate touchpoints and ensure department head is briefed
  • Provide support to department head/VP on annual LRP strategy development and execution

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role/function
  • Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD) is preferred 
  • Experience in oncology is required
  • Pharma, biotech, or consultant firm experience is required 
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Strong communication skills     
  • Presentation skills across a variety of organization levels and disciplines, including senior executives 
  • Experience with matrix-based teams and project management
  • Excellent command of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Self-starter, and proactively drive projects toward successful completion
