Amgen discovers, develops, and delivers innovative human therapeutics. A biotechnology pioneer since 1980, Amgen was one of the first companies to realize this new science's promise by bringing safe and effective medicines from the laboratory bench to the manufacturing plant and ultimately to patients. Amgen therapeutics have changed the practice of medicine, helping millions of people around the world in their fight against grievous illnesses. With a portfolio of commercial products as well as a deep, broad pipeline of potential new medicines, Amgen remains committed to advancing science to dramatically improve people's lives.

Amgen's 10-12-week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patients' lives. The internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing competitive compensation.

The summer intern will join the Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technology group in the Process Development organization. Our team is responsible for advancing Amgen's diverse portfolio at early stage from performing molecule assessment (MA) for candidate selection to developing drug substance manufacturing processes for enabling first-in-human (FIH) studies. The internship project will focus on advancing data science applications to help streamline DS process development and decision makings and thus reduce cost and development time. The intern will virtually join our team of scientists, engineers, and data scientists during the internship.

We are seeking a candidate passionate with both data science and drug substance process development to help transform the multi-dimensional development data into business insights. This is a unique opportunity for the candidate to gain process development knowledge across multiple DS operations (Synthetics, Cell line development, Cell culture and Purification) and different development stages (MA and FIH). It also provides a real-life data environment to the candidate to learn and apply data skills (e.g. data warehousing, data visualization and machine learning) to create value for the DST organization and Amgen. The program will conclude with a presentation of the intern's results to the department.
