General Position Summary/Purpose:

The DMPK-BA department in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a highly motivated Transporter Scientist to join the In Vitro ADME group. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other team members to characterize the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of candidate drug molecules. DMPK-BA works very closely with other disciplines (medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, toxicology etc.) to conduct preclinical studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.

In this role, you will be an expert in drug transporters with experience in conducting and optimizing preclinical invitro assays to evaluate candidate drug molecules as inhibitors or substrates of uptake transporters, as well as conducting hepatocyte uptake assays. Furthermore you will serve as subject matter expert in drug transporter sciences, keeping up to date with the literature in this field, and providing support to project teams to enhance our mechanistic understanding of the "complex interplay" between drug transporters and drug metabolizing enzymes, and how this affects drug disposition/interaction.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Capable of performing substrate/inhibitor kinetics for uptake transporters
  • Working knowledge of drug transporter sciences, and capable of performing and interpreting in vitro drug transporter studies in recombinant cell lines or hepatocytes.
  • Knowledge of in vitro ADME assays
  • Capable of using in vitro and in silico tools to support the prediction of transporter-mediated pharmacokinetics (PK) and drug interactions (DDIs) in humans
  • Extensive experience in cell culture
  • Has knowledge of both biological and physicochemical properties of small molecules that influence drug disposition
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories in ADME and uptake transporter sciences (in particular).
  • Serve as in-house expert in uptake transporter sciences.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, interact with and influence others, acts as a mentor, trainer or coach.
  • Interprets findings, writes reports and makes presentations at internal cross-functional teams as well as external conferences
  • Closely follows primary literature to maintain awareness
