Job title: Biomarker Research-Genomics and Real World Data, Lead Intern

General Position Summary/Purpose:

The successful internship candidate will work in a team setting within the Precision Medicine-Oncology organization and will be trained to undertake independent computational research to address translational questions. Specifically, the intern will develop bioinformatic methods to analyze Genomics and Clinico-genomic data of real world patients. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn from experienced Translational Scientists, collaborate with Biomarker Leads, and learn about application of Genomics and Real World Data in biomarker research and clinical development of new drugs.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop machine learning methods for the analysis of genomic data based on standard classification and statistical techniques
  • Research diseases and treatment landscape, generate survival curves for patients in different biomarker subgroups, lines of therapies
  • Generate query templates for common questions about gene mutations, gene expression in patients treated with different therapies
  • Develop and implement tools for visualizing genomic and clinico-genomic data to enhance understanding of biomarker relevance in different disease settings
  • Maintain detailed documentation of analysis methods, code and results
  • Prepare slides for presentation and present summary of results to team

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be current MS/PhD student majoring in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • Must be returning to university for at least one semester and graduating within one year post internship

Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience in R (or similar language)
  • Knowledgeable of genomic analysis tools for NGS, basic statistics (parametric statistics, Kaplan-Meier), cancer biology, electronic health records
