The Director, Sourcing is responsible to develop & lead sourcing strategies, primarily focusing on IT, HR and Professional Services categories. We are looking for a hands-on leader to work across multiple divisions to continue development and support of a team of sourcing and procurement professionals. If you are a proven business team leader & collaborator, with experience in commercial and corporate teams, this may be the position for you! We seek an individual responsible for leading practices which improve value, minimize risk, and ensure quality & cost efficiency. The Director works optimally with ambiguity to build strategies that meet future business demands in the sourcing area of responsibility. You are responsible (either directly or matrix) for Sourcing and Category Management personnel who are accountable for translating business needs into contracting requirements. The Director will work closely with key category management peers to develop positive relationships and drive consistency. You will lead the Supplier Management Program for related categories, including risk, performance, relationship, and supplier development pillars.

A typical day might include the following:
  • Applies sophisticated judgment, planning, and independent thought leadership in efforts to influence positive business program outcomes and drive the sourcing team results
  • Either directly, or through a matrix, leads an organization of procurement professionals responsible for carrying out local market sourcing projects
  • We need a leader to utilize advanced supply market knowledge to implement effective sourcing strategies
  • As part of the leadership team, influences the strategic direction of how Regeneron uses service providers and champions the strategic sourcing process
  • Reviews major contracts and acts as an experienced resource for planning and leading detailed negotiations
  • Leads or participates in supplier governance committees, while identifying and defining standard methodologies from both within and outside of Regeneron
This role might be for you if:
  • You can direct and coordinate everyday execution of Regeneron's local sourcing strategies, while counseling and supporting executives and department leads
  • Liaise with finance to ensure all sourcing activities align with Regeneron's financial controls, ensures ongoing engagement with finance throughout a program's lifecycle for appropriate levels of contract and budgetary oversight
  • Act as the primary relationship manager to the supplier's leadership team, as well as, developing, influencing and partnering on the global category management strategy
  • Provide coaching and mentorship on job performance and career development to your team
  • Provides guidance, support, and overall leadership to the team to ensure goals are achieved
In order to be considered for this role, you must possess a bachelor's plus 12 years of relevant, or a master's plus 10 years of relevant, progressive experience within procurement. Biotech/Pharma experience is preferred. This role requires 4 or more years of supervisory experience, preferably leading a matrix team, with a clear focus on operational excellence. Also, the right candidate will possess understanding of Sourcing Contracting, ERP, eRFX systems preferred. (Oracle, Zycus, GEP, Ariba, Other). In addition to established written and verbal communication skills, we need someone with; cost modeling knowledge, business case development skills, extensive program and project management experience.
