Associate VP, Market Access

Your primary focus as the Associate VP, Market Access will be to lead a team in the creation and execution of an optimized market access strategy that allows for maximum patient access to Omeros' portfolio of products throughout the product lifecycle. Through strong leadership, business acumen, deep market access experience, and a collaborative workstyle, you will be a key influencer in the overall commercial strategy for both on market and pipeline products. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you are expected to be an active member of the commercial leadership team representing the voice of the customer.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market and orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases, disorders of the central nervous system and immune-related diseases, including cancers. In addition to its commercial product OMIDRIA (phenylephrine and ketorolac intraocular solution) 1%/0.3%, Omeros has multiple phase 3 and phase 2 clinical-stage development programs focused on complement-mediated disorders and substance abuse. Omeros also has a diverse group of preclinical programs including GPR174, a novel target in immuno-oncology that modulates a new cancer immunity axis recently discovered by Omeros. Small-molecule inhibitors of GPR174 are part of Omeros' proprietary G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and their corresponding compounds. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Attract, hire, and develop a diverse organization
  • Create and communicate a clear and compelling market access vision for on market, launch and pipeline portfolio
  • Develop a comprehensive market access strategy that translates into operational goals and objectives
  • Responsible for payer marketing, patient support program, reimbursement field team, payer field team, trade and distribution, and pricing and contracting
  • Partner closely with the leaders of sales, brand, and commercial operations to ensure market access strategies support the overall brand strategies
  • Successfully lead team through collaboration within and across market access, sales, marketing, medical, finance, manufacturing and other groups both within and outside of the organization, to improve overall effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) to ensure the HEOR plan and value dossier include compelling and credible information to support of the product value to key stakeholders
  • Responsible for Gross to Net Forecasting in collaboration with finance
  • Ensure tactical execution in the field, aligning incentives to achieve access targets while optimizing revenue
  • Guide the team to anticipate and plan for changing healthcare and reimbursement policies
  • Build organizational capabilities to execute short and long-term strategies
  • Create an engaging culture that recognizes performance, ethical behavior, a culture of accountability for conducting business with integrity and within legal guidelines
  • Provide overall management, guidance and direction, establishing a model for the desired tone and culture for the function
Education, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:
  • BS or BA degree required; MBA or PharmD is preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry with experience across market access roles
  • Preferred experience includes the following:
    • Experience in oncology/hematology and/or ophthalmology
    • Successful product launch experience in a buy and bill model
    • Experience in developing and executing market access strategies with specialty biologics
  • 7+ years people leadership experience, preferably leading multiple differing roles within the same team for a launch product
  • Demonstrated track record of success with career progression and larger responsibilities
  • Experience building and developing a high performing organization
  • Strong change management leadership experience
  • Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills; is aware of how market access strategies contribute to overall commercial strategies and revenue
  • Advanced understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision-making, coverage, coding (i.e. J code), ASP, reimbursement, billing, distribution models, contracting and patient access to specialty biologics in outpatient, in-patient and ambulatory surgical centers, CMS, Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid, bundle vs. separate reimbursement and pass through status

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
