Sr. Research Associate / Scientist, Biology / Proteomics

Kezar Life Sciences (NASDAQ: KZR), a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company located in South San Francisco, is seeking a Senior Research Associate or Scientist to join our Proteomics team. This position will support drug discovery campaigns for our protein secretion research programs. This hands-on position will report to the Sr. Scientist, Proteomics and will be responsible for in vitro sample preparation and downstream target validation to support global protein profiling studies. This proteomics-based research will directly influence ongoing research projects and will be utilized in the selection of clinical candidates from our drug discovery projects. Flexibility to work simultaneously on multiple projects under tight timelines and changing priorities is a must for this position.

Kezar is focused on small molecule drug discovery and development to target immune-mediated diseases and cancer. Kezar's lead product candidate, KZR-616, a selective inhibitor of the immunoproteasome, is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of severe autoimmune diseases. KZR-261, Kezar's first oncology candidate targeting the protein secretion pathway via the Sec61 translocon, is entering Phase 1 clinical trials in several oncology indications.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, protein sciences or related area, with minimum 2 years of industrial experience.
• Experienced in working with mammalian cell lines, primary cells and tissue including cell Isolation and culture, cellular/tissue protein extraction and fractionation is highly desired.
• Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics studies is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in cell-based and protein assays (e.g. cell viability assay, western blot) is desired.
• Proficiency in basic data analysis software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism) is required.
• Excellent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
