What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role apart of Amgen's Induced Proximity Platform (IPP), you will join our Targeted RNA Degradation group. The IPP takes innovative, cross-discipline approaches, including Targeted RNA Degradation, to tackle the toughest targets. The IPP is charged with developing Amgen's newest drug modalities of heterobifunctional small molecules.

We are seeking a creative, emerging scientific leader to discover and develop novel therapies for cancer and other therapeutic areas. The Senior Associate Scientist's primary responsibilities include:
  • Develop platforms and modalities to impact challenging targets across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology and immuno-oncology.
  • Lead a project to support discovery and development of novel therapeutic modalities based on Targeted RNA Degradation, including RIBOTACs.
  • Set project goals and timelines, design, perform and analyze experiments, interact with team members across different departments and research sites, and communicate and present data to department leadership.
  • Inform departmental goals and strategy and will represent the department in various cross-functional activities including academic collaborations, external research evaluations, project teams, and scientific committees.
  • Expected to contribute to the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree OR

Master's degree and 4 years of relevant scientific experience OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Specific expertise and a record of publication in RNA biology
  • Experience with RNA secondary structure determination and interaction of small molecules with RNA is highly desirable
  • Broad knowledge of cancer and cellular biology with demonstrated independent research eminence through first author publications in top journals
  • Research experience with biochemical, biophysical, molecular and cellular techniques, including enzyme and cell assay development
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
