Key Deliverables:
  • The intern will model powder flow variability of feeders using discrete element method (DEM) and its impact on continuous mixing such as mixing in the twin screw extruders and/or continuous paddle mixers. Multiple factors will be studied such as feeding flow rate and mixing process parameters such as screw speed and powder throughput.
  • Responsible for applying deep understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, oral dosage process engineering, material science, powder technology, and physical characterization.
  • Contribute to technology transfers, investigations, and formulation & process optimizations for pipeline & commercial products.
  • Responsible for championing new technologies and skillsets and developing depth of knowledge in focus areas, in close partnership with R&D.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of particle technology
  • Experience with computational modeling (Discrete Element Method)
  • Experience with CAD drawings
  • Previous work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate concepts and problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including senior leadership

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum GPA = 3.0/4.0
  • Returning to university for at least one semester and graduating within one-year post internship
  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD degree with a focus in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related field of study
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
