HR BUSINESS ADVISOR (HRBA) / GENERALIST

Position Summary:

The HRBA / Generalist will work side by side with frontline and midlevel managers in the business to proactively coach managers in people skills including development of their team, manage employee relations with an eye towards elevating management skills to prevent future issues, and execute upon HR programs consistent with the overall talent strategy. The role will be a part of the HRBP team and will partner with other HR functions, as well as corporate functions (e.g., Corporate Communications, Legal, etc.). The HRBA / Generalist will play a key role in ensuring support of our "one GBT" philosophy and in embedding and fostering our GBT values and culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as strategic business partner to frontline and midlevel people managers by supporting them and employees in matters related to career development, talent planning, learning and development, employee relations, performance management, and employee engagement
  • Support and coach people managers to proactively manage employees and provide advice and guidance on varying employee topics and issues including effectively leading and developing their team
  • Manage employee relations and/or performance issues, with a laser focus on maintaining respect and dignity for all involved
  • Partner with other HR departments to lead and rollout HR solutions which meet the distinctive needs of the business or location, while identifying opportunities to achieve greater consistency, scale, efficiency and quality. Also, an active member of the HR team helping the team to learn from failure and to continuously improve / adapt our offerings to help drive the business and to maintain a highly motivated and dedicated workforce
  • Partner with Talent Development, HRBP, and Employee Experience teams to identify areas of opportunity to continue to elevate the employee experience. Then in partnership with these teams, help create, design and implement corresponding initiatives
  • Proactively provide creative and engaging solutions to motivate employees at different career points and stages
  • Gather and share workforce-related insights, data and solutions with HR colleagues and the business to drive decision-making
  • Manage sensitive offboarding conversations
  • Work closely with HR Operations to provide insights in order to manage employee data changes and onboarding issues, if any
  • Stay up to date on employment law and current best practices to help better facilitate the employee experience


Qualifications:

  • 7-11 years or relevant HR experience, preferably in biotech/pharmaceutical, with demonstrated increase in scope of responsibility; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources or other related field or equivalent additional years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place
  • Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships, delivers results)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, exceptional judgement, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy, including dealing with complex employee relations issues and working them to resolution
  • Possesses both critical thinking capability and hands-on HR business plan implementation experience
  • Strong customer service orientation and track record of anticipating needs of internal clients, being overly responsiveness, effectively and proactively communicating and a willingness to go the extra mile for the client
  • Experience working in a fast-paced global company experiencing significant growth
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment law and HR specialty areas (benefits, compensation, employee development, employee relations, HRIS, recruitment)
  • Experience using Workday is a plus
