Associate Manager, Accounting Operations

As a member of Accounting Operation team, you will be responsible for leading the center of excellence. This is a tremendous opportunity to work on high-priority initiatives and collaborate with colleagues throughout the company. You will manage the day to day functions of the Accounting Operations team as it relates to accounting technology, month end closes, cross functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives. You will be supporting the Associate Director of Accounting Operations on a day to day basis as needed and will be responsible for all testing and assist in projects within the following areas: General Ledger, Projects, Fixed Assets, Payables, Procurement, Cash Management, Time & Labor and Reporting.

A typical day might include the following:

• Supervise and execute work related to month end close activities such as running close processes in multiple modules within Oracle, perform reconciliations, troubleshoot functional system issues and escalate as needed.
• Oversee the governance of processes such as SOX controls, periodic reviews of accesses and configurations and send communications of upcoming activities and patches.
• Define and document business requirements, create test cases and execute test plans for accounting technology systems for IT incidents, enhancements, projects and periodic upgrades for systems.
• Responsible for configuration of production and test instances of Oracle for new metadata for chart of accounts segments, project codes and complex setups such as new legal entities.
• Lead the internal team to create and document standard operating procedures for different processes within accounting department.
• Be the subject matter expert and represent Accounting department on multiple intracompany projects with other departments such as HR,Finance,IT, Commerical to name a few.
• Work with the functional leads within Accounting department and management to ensure alignment on vision, resources, security and priorities.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members and ensure that workload is evenly distributed among staff.

To be considered for this opportunity you must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration and a minimum of 6 years of experience or a master's degree with 4 years of experience role ideally in a science or research driven environment with at least 2 years of people management experience. We need someone who is proficient in a large ERP financial system such as Oracle, SAP or Workday . They should possess good knowledge and experience in working with reporting/data warehousing tools such as Qlik, Tableau or Power BI. This person should be well versed in accounting principles and P&L statements. They must have extensive experience with sophisticated functionality in Microsoft desktop apps such as Excel, PowerPoint and Projects. Familiarity with continuous process improvement techniques such as Six Sigma will be a major advantage.
