Primary Functions: Performance of all accounting, reporting and forecasting assignments under the direction of senior members of the team. Provide assistance and review in various areas of financial reporting close procedures, consolidations, external audits, valuations and drafting of financial statements. This is an early hire in a fast-growing Biotech Company and perfect for motivated professional looking to grow into a finance management position and build out a team. In addition to traditional senior accounting duties, the ideal candidate will also provide support to human resources and laboratory operations.

Responsibilities and duties:
  • Organize all contracts and manage company vendors and payment processes
  • Develop and perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close operating procedures and financial reporting
  • Perform and review various analyses/reconcile general ledger accounts, as well as other quarterly close procedures.
  • Work with the various program managers and research teams to accurately forecast and budget future spend
  • Be the primary point of contact for the external audit
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and assist senior members of the team when researching and evaluating accounting issues
  • Assist with the Company's annual tax filings and state registration documents
  • Evaluate, document, and recommend process improvements - develop and refine the internal control framework
  • Daily management of payroll and other Company programs (benefits, 401K, training)
  • Maintain records and process transactions related to equity and stock-based compensation

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with others within and outside the accounting team
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal controls best practices
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, including the latest standards for lease accounting and revenue recognition
  • Ability to evaluate and improve internal control processes
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and the Office Suite
  • Self-motivated with ability to balance and prioritize competing demands.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 3-4 years of professional work experience, preferably in public accounting
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Biotech industry experience
