The Sr. Scientist will be a member of the Lead Generation & Pharmacology team and responsible for the design and implementation of PK/PD and efficacy animal models. The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of animal models, particularly in Immunology including genetic and T-cell transfer models.  Furthermore, the candidate will lead teams focused on providing data-based Go/NoGo decisions grounded on high quality, well-controlled and reproducible experimental evidence for drug discovery programs. The candidate will be accountable for devising and championing the development and application of state-of-the-art technologies and approaches. The Sr Scientist will actively mentor and develop outstanding scientific talent, while fostering creativity, engagement, and scientific rigor, and collaborate in a matrixed-functional team, across several groups within the organization. 


  • Design, develop and implement high quality and reproducible animal models for efficacy and mechanism of action studies of small molecules, peptide, protein, and antibody therapeutics in close collaboration with the Therapeutic Area teams
  • Develop and execute in vivo and ex vivo compound screening in support of PK/PD activities and target engagement
  • Develop state-of-the-art technologies and approaches for in vivo and ex vivo target engagement and biomarker discovery
  • Contribute to the scientific management of projects by participating in drug discovery teams in collaboration with Chemistry, Bioanalytical/ADME, In Vitro Pharmacology, Computational Chemistry, and Structural Biology groups
  • Mentor junior scientists and research associates to develop scientific talent
  • Evaluate and establish collaboration with contract research organizations and academic institutions, enabling access to external innovation in support of internal projects
  • Participate in the global scientific community through attendance at scientific conferences and publication of novel research findings in peer-reviewed, high-quality journals


  • PhD and postdoctoral experience with 6+ years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries
  • Extensive expertise in in vivo pharmacology, animal model development, and PK/PD relationships
  • Extensive surgical skill in rodents with more than one therapeutic area
  • Demonstrated experience with ex vivo animal and human models for translatability into the clinic
  • Experience with reproductive medicine, inflammation, fibrosis, IBD, or autoimmune animal models
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task, and excited for hands-on laboratory research
  • Ability to independently synthesize information from various disciplines into experimental design, execute, and communicate results effectively across the organization
  • Excellent scientific ability demonstrated by a track record of scientific accomplishments through publications, patents, and invited presentations
  • Strong leadership potential 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism required
