Job Description:

This position will lead Ipsen's NA Data, Digital, and Commercial IT Strategy. As a senior leader within the organization, this individual will help build a function supporting the strategic, commercial and operational aspects of the business. This individual will be responsible for driving a wide variety of cross-functional, high impact projects and initiatives with a large degree of autonomy and visibility. The position will require creative thinkers who can rigorously propose and cross validate innovative ways to solve business problems.

Lead the development and implementation of enterprise commercial & medical data, digital, & commercial IT strategy to maximize insights and efficiencies. Work as a cross-functional partner with business units and supporting functions, advocates for appropriate use of data according to industry best-practices and align data purchases and priorities clearly to business priorities into single source for commercial data. Develop and implement processes to conduct evaluation of new sources. Act as a motivational leader ready to drive results and decisions in a cross-functional setting while adhering to the data strategy.

This individual is accountable to customers and stakeholders within the TAs - including but not limited to Sales & Marketing - Value & Access, Business Operations as well as Commercial IT. The Lead provides a single point of contact for data sourcing, governance, strategy, and access needs.

  • Develop, implement and reinforce Ipsen's NA enterprise data strategy and vision to support a single source of all NA commercial and medical data; sets clear integration vs. exploration strategies
    • Lead and implement a multi-year data strategy roadmap
    • Partner with, advise, and advocate for, appropriate use of data across NA functions, according to industry best-practices; Align the value of the organization's commercial & medical data assets and services to business priorities
    • Drive the democratization of data across the organization, including interface personalization according to business/function needs
    • Establish and track KPIs to a successful implementation of data strategy
    • Map and assess current processes and structures for data strategy and identify gaps and areas for improvement
    • Keep up to date on emerging data and integration for pharmaceuticals; anticipates future business needs
    • Lead cross-functional teams to map out data needs; advise business on relevant data and champions data appropriateness (when and why to buy and when to sunset) and communicate the opportunities and challenges
    • Contribute valuable perspective to key business decisions based on a comprehensive understanding across business units and therapeutics areas of the business challenges, the competitive environment, and challenges/opportunities as it relates to commercial data strategy


  • Create and lead the North America Data, Digital & Commercial IT Strategy Group
    • Lead and develop the direct reports in the current team
    • Ensure alignment/ execution of business objectives regarding digital and commercial IT projects
    • Create and execute a significant and aspirational commercial IT roadmap aligned with the business
    • Coordinate and leverage the organization's resources to link and connect projects to achieve commercial IT Roadmap. Liaise with Corporate IT to ensure that corporate resources are successfully deployed to meet North America business requirements
    • Drive and ensure compliance with NA Data Privacy and Security Initatives inclusive of evolving capabilities over time as needed
    • Be the single point of contact for all commercial IT issues and functions (internally and externally)
    • Work with senior management to develop business cases, formulate plans, estimate resources and identify timing for the local projects.
    • Manage, direct and control efforts to ensure the optimal use of technology and resources for successful commercial IT Project implementation.
    • Provide regular reporting and maintain ongoing communications to senior management, stakeholders and sponsors, in addition to Corporate IT teams


  • Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
    • Comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical data
    • Strong analytical skills with the capability to appropriately define issues, questions and data; to comprehend quantitative methods and analytical techniques; to perform accurate analysis (correctly calculated numbers, accurate graphs); to cross-check data and assumptions; to document and establish data trails; and to think creatively about different ways to analyze data and information
    • Strong writing skills with the ability to transform business needs into functional, actionable requirements with the appropriate level of detail for the execution team
    • Excellent quantitative background, including ability to undertake relevant statistical analysis that supports the analysis of data to better understand market dynamics and provide insights into product performance and marketing strategy.


Knowledge, abilities & experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in in a technical or analytical field such as statistics, operations research, industrial engineering, computer science, economics, math, etc.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in data management and governance and/or Commercial Sales Operations/Analytics, Commercial IT experience with demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and explain systems and approaches for customer data and product data to enable business decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions, regions and cultures
  • Enterprise level leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate and drive results
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and with confidence
  • Excellent communicator, able to persuasively convey both ideas and data, verbally and in writing
  • Proven skills as an effective team player who can engender credibility and confidence within and outside the company
  • Ability to distill complex issues and ideas down to simple comprehensible terms
  • Embraces and demonstrates a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors for the organization
  • Budget management skills including identifying solutions that deliver value, articulating the business case for investment, ability to prioritize resources and effectively communicate financial updates.


Key Technical Competencies Required
  • Experience as acting as a liaison with IT on data projects
  • Must have strong knowledge of relevant internal and external data sources within the pharmaceutical data ecosystem
  • Experience in setting up an ecosystem of partners bringing together various sources of data
  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Must have experience in work flow/information processing
  • Must possess experience managing multiple, complex projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, and data quality business processes, solutions, methodologies.
  • Experience with 3rd party pharmaceutical data like IQVIA (IMS Health) Sales Data (DDD, Xponent, NSP, NPA), Affiliation (HCOS), APLD (Medical Claims), and Specialty pharmacy data
